Good Tournie Recommendation for newbie

    Howdy all,

Anyone recommend a place/night where it would be good for a first time play on the "live" circuit.

I play a lot online and am doing pretty well, would like to check out the "live" scene now. Preferably a tournie with a full time dealer(crfoupiers - or however you spell it). Any good nights down the Fitz for example.

    Cheers

Neither of the above have dealers - although the Sunday one above is a great tournament.

If you want dealers and are comfortable investing €55 in a tourney (You say you're doing well online) I'd say go with the Tuesday night double chance tournament in the Fitz.

JJP, is yours not self dealt til the last table or two?

In answer to the question, spend 60e in the scalps on friday, you can rebuy/topup for an extra 50 if you wish, but just play it as a freezeout if its too much.

    Off Topic:

While the Scalps game on a Friday night is a great game, I wouldn't recommend playing any sort of a rebuy game without being willing to take all available rebuys and topups if necessary.

People rarely make it to the break with a stack big enough that it would make sense for them not to top up when you factor in everybody else topping up.

Good recommendation but I could never agree that anyone should play the Friday scalps game as a FO. You are giving the field too much of an advantage over you in the long run imho.

Any DC game in the Fitz or the SE for €50+5 or €75+5 would be a good game to start your live play on. The Fitz scalps game is very good and enjoyable but the buyin is a bit bigger so it depends on your BR. Any game in a casino in town with a reg of €5 or more should have dealers for all tables.

The main thing is to relax and enjoy yourself the first night, it will be much slower than online so don't try to force it. Keep patient.

Edit: Cross posts with Brian - he's reading my mind across the interweb...now thats talent.

The students will be all over that one, especially if there are free sandwiches involved. ;)

Don't go down that path else 92% of us (maybe) will have to start sympathising with their situation and we don't want any of that get in the way of a slagging.
