Starting stack and blinds.

Why are typical starting stack and blinds 5,000 and 25/50? Is there a specific reason for this?

Is there any disadvantage having a starting stack of 60,000 with starting blinds at 300/600? Or maybe a starting stack of 200 with 1/2 blinds?

I don't see that there would be any difference so long as the blind/average stack ratio is kept the same.
Its probably one of those 'its always been done this way, so therefore it can never be changed' things.

theres no major problem as long as u have the same no of big blinds in play to start with.
However, if stacks are small, u might have a problem with change, and if stacks are 60k+, u might have too many chips in play, making it a bit awkward, thats the only probs i see.
Depends on the demonination of the chips i guess.
