Monitor - Not Recieving Signal

Just putting together new pc and am using :-

Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI motherboard and a XFX GeForce 7600GT graphics card.

The card is certainly plugged in - the fan is pretty loud ;) Power is going throughout the pc, fans, lights, dvd drive opening but the keyboard does not seem to be getting any power (unable to turn caps or num lock on).

The monitor is a rather old CRT which uses a VGA connection, The graphics card has 2 DVI and came with two VGA->DVI converters plus I had one myself. Switching these around makes me certain the converters are fine. I can plug the monitor into laptop and it works fine there also.

First build so I am assuming I am forgetting something but everything seems pluged in fine. I would also assume the graphics card would not require the drivers to simply power the monitor.

Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

I'd double check all connections in the system and make sure there is not a short some where. Take the whole thing apart and re-build it from scratch if you have to which is about the best way to do it if you cannot locate the problem.
