Does anyone know of any good classes?

    Hi mate,

There's a few good clubs going in Loughlinstown Leisure Centre.

There's kickboxing most nights, but the teacher is actually a TKD 3rd or 4th dan, so you can ring him for times - Glen Heenan 2350116 - he will definitely know of a pure TKD class if needed.

There's also a jiu jitsu class on Monday - Thursday, but the Thursday is a great fight class including stand up, takedowns and ground and pound. Some say its a hard class, but I'm so fit it seems easy ;) ( Feel free to make a comment Mr Jones ). It's run by Dave jones and you can leave a message for him on here if you're interested.

    Hope all goes well....

    P

Dave Jones' club "Next Generation" (see above post) I cant wait to go out there and do the thursday class I've heard nothing but good things. Also Dave is a cool dude.

P.S. When I hear people say they are not too fit (usually but not always) that is followed by something like; "I'll get a bit fitter down the gym before I start Martial Arts training" which really is a total waste of time. Hopefully you wont fall into that trap.

Good Luck with what ever you choose to do!!

    Peace

Thanks for the plug Pearce, you are welcome anytime.

Here is the NG training Schedule

Mondays 9.30pm-1045pm JiuJitsu sparring all Nogi unless by appointment ;)
Tuesdays 9.15pm - 10.45pm Jiu Jitsu technique and sparring
Wednesdays 7pm - 8.30pm Jiu Jitsu technique and sparring
Thursdays 9.15- 11pm the now infamous "Fight Class" if you are new and you complete every exercise you get a months membership free:eek:

The above are all at Loughlinstown Leisure Centre

Saturdays 12 - 2 pm in St Andrews College Booterstown Ave, Blackrock

Jiu Jitsu Conditioning Class Rounds and Rounds of Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu mixed in with rope climbing, Hindu pushups, squats, sit throughs, climb arounds and the "surprise" half way through which will tax anyones cardio system.

Bish, fight class was so tough I had to barricade the door to stop you from taking impromtu breaks!!

Glen is an awesome Kickboxing instructor too by the way.

I heard the "surprise" is they make you eat a whole chocolate cake and THEN make you do the rope climbs, sit throughs etc.

That would tax my cardio (and vomiting) system for sure!:D

Sounds good, I'd like to give it a shot sometime if I didn't live so far away.

Beginners are very welcome , I would say Tuesdays and Wednsday nights are the best nights to come down to get a flavour , if i had to choose between Tuesday and Wed, I would say Wed night at 7pm, also a lot of people have just started at the moment so its a good time to come down.Tuesday and Wed nights are the classes with BJJ instruction which is why I would recommend them first time out.

Glen does a cracking KB class, well worth a visit.
As far as I know, it's Thursdays at eight, and I think he does Sundays also.
I haven't had the privilege of training with the MMA boys in Loughlinstown so far, but I have yet to hear a bad thing said against them. They also do a Sunday class as far as I know.

Not sure what part of DL you're in , but there's a traditional JJ club in Glasthule, and we have a grand ol' kickboxing club up in Westwood Leopardstown, Mondays and Thursdays at eight. Also kilmaciud road at eight on a Wednesday.

If TKD is your bag , Chris McCabe has a club in the same location, Westwood, and Bray, too.
Adult classes are Mondays , and I think , Wednesdays.
