My Dumb Connection

My net connection dropping when I'm using Firefox. The connection is still there because BitTorrent still works but the browser keeps dropping in and out and it's getting really annoying after a few days.

I think it's something to do with me port forwarding, cause it's only been happening since I done port forward for BitTorrent.

i noticed with bitlord that bittorrent will not stop if your connection drops for a couple of seconds i.e. it will take a while for your torrent client to update that the connection is gone and by then it may be back..

try opening a command windows and pinging a website with the -t option
    e.g. ping www.boards.ie -t

this will keep pinging while your surfing the web and you can check if its your connection dropping.,

also try updating to Mozilla Minefield 3.0 its a firefox replacement.

    *edit*
also an overloaded bittorrent site will kill your connection

Could be an issue with your router, disconnects are a common symptom if running bittorrent with a router unable to handle the load.

That said it happens even when BT is not running as you say so it could be a wiring issue with the cable for your broadband connection. You could try replacing it or inspecting to make sure its okay.

How do other browers behave? Are you sure its not just a problem with your Firefox installation?

Does it happen if you haven't run BitTorrent since switching on the router?
