    Hi,

Can anyone recomend a good place in Dublin to get the alignment checked on my car it's an 03 leon cupra?

Rather not bring it to a cowboy outfit and have alloys marked and so on.

    Thanks,
    Neil.

Discount Tyres + Auto Services Ph 8119027
    Rosemount ind est, Blanchardstown.

Got my car tracked there recently, they have a brand new 4 wheel laser setup and really knew their stuff. Recommended.

I use Advance Tyres on the Naas Road. They also have the fairly advanced (sorry about the pun) laser setup. About €60 AFAIK.

I've had a few recomendations for discount tyres in Blanch now so will go and have a look tomorrow.

    Thanks,
    Neil.

    Dave McCann in Blanchardstown.
The fact that you have to book 1-2 days in advance shows how poplular the place is.

    Thanks for the recomendations folks....

Went to discount tyres in Blanch today, very impressed with their customer service and quality of work.

Arrived there for alighment check at about 4 and the car was put straight onto the ramp, all done in 20mins.

Steering wheel was off to the right before and is perfectly straight now!

    All for €35 :)

    Neil.

€35!! Where in Blanchardstown are they Neil?

They are in rosemount industrial estate just up from the aquatic centre, on the left as you enter the estate.
€35 was for two wheel alignment as the rear of my car is not easily adjustable.

Yes, I know about the non-adjustable rear now.

Discount tyres customer service is excellent, prices seem pretty good too.

They told me I will need tyres in a couple of months, I knew this anyway.
Was quoted €149 a piece for goodyear eagle f1's in 225x45x17, good price considering eire tyres are €135 or there abouts.

    Will def use them again.

    Neil.

Seconded. Have got two complete sets of tyres off them, and tracking done also (with the fancy infra red machine).

Prices were excellent, certainly for Dunlops, which I think he buys in large quantities. His prices were a good bit cheaper for tyres supplied, fitted and balanced than eiretyres for supply alone.

Doesn't rush the job either, and the lads know their stuff.

(I know the OP is sorted already, but just in case anyone else around D15 needs tyres etc., I wanted to recommend Dave McCann also).

Just on the Dunlops - Ask if the tyres are 'Dunlop Maxx American'. They are developed for the American market and as you can appriciate American driving conditions are slightly different to our own. When buying tyres it is good to find out are they genuine European market tyres.

If they are 'Dunlop Maxx American' they are a very soft compound tyre and wear quite badly on Irish roads. Expect them to last about 12,000km.

There are no roundabouts in America ;)

They're the exact same tyres my car came with (SP Sports) when I bought it new, I changed the original set at around 27k miles, I'm at 54k miles now and there's still some life left in the rears. The front will need changing soon, but 27k miles is good enough for me! :D
Who and where precisely is this bloke?

He's a bloke that owns a tyre shop ;) and he's based in Coolmine Industrial Park, Dublin 15. In the same park as the Power City (if you're familiar with that).

Hey guys, I used Blake's Cross garage in Lusk for laser alignment - thought they were excellent. It's a long way to go from Sth Co. Dublin though, so I'm looking for somewhere that has both the laser technology & the brains to use it. A mechanic suggested Kwikfit Goatstown...

Anybody used them or can recommend anyone else Southside Dublin?

    Thanks

    Dave McCann,

    http://www.davemccanntyres.com/

    Best I've come accross.

I've sent people from 4 hrs away to him, if you want it done properly its the place to go.

PS forget kwickfit, fastfit, f*ckfit et al, jokers the lot.

I had my passat digital / laser ?? aligned by "Square fit" in tallaght, the guy who did it for me, Tony, took his time and did it right. The drivers front right wheel was giving him problems to adjust but he kept at it until he was happy.

Good to see that in Dublin they are decent places to get your car tracked, down here in Waterford all of them are cowboys, they can never get it right and I've tried them all.
