    Hi all

I'm looking for a free (or cheap) piece of software that can go through directories of files and add the new/changed ones to a DVD backup. I have the dvd writer but no real idea of what software to use.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Gary.

Norton Ghost would do what you're looking for.

There's a free jobbie called G4L (Ghost 4 Linux). Check sourceforge.net. It can back up most filesystems, but it wont burn them directly.

Thanks Khannie but I think Ghost is more for backing up a whole hard drive as opposed to selected files. Someone must be using a simple file backup system, anyone???

Well....(and I know this doesn't fit the dvd bill) but the ms backup utility that comes with windows does support incremental backup (i.e. only files that have changed are written). This is no better than the "freshen" option you get with zip / rar files though.

Thanks I'll give the ms backup utility a blast and see how it works out.
