    Can anybody help me with this one,

    On my Imac G5 running Osx 10.4.6 my airport card has come to almost a standstill, when downloading it starts at 200+kb per second but will drop rapidly right down to almost zero. It's not my broadband connection verified with speed tests etc. and there is no p2p software running.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Downloading what? From where ? Many things can effect download speed, what about communicating with other computers on your network ? What is the speed like between them when transferring files? Are you using an Airport base station or some other brand of access point ?

    Thanks for your reply,

    I'm using a third party router at the mo, the speeds are slow for everything web pages, software updates (even from apple). The thing that gets me on this is it was working fine three weeks ago. I dont have a network setup at home as all other computers are pc's which by the way are all working fine for downloading stuff, so what I have been doing is any downloads I require for the mac are being downloaded to a pc burnt to disc and transfered to the mac.

    Costing me a fortune in discs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
