Hey guys, just looking for advice on which flash to get.
Using a 20D, don't particulalry want to have to splash for the 580 EX, so just wondering what you thought of the older versions or the sigmas or whatever.

    Cheers,
    Paudie.

I got the Sigma EF 500 Super DG (the DG version is the one you need) from Germany for around €200. Excellent flash. See reviews at www.fredmiranda.com. Not as sturdy as the Canon but then it's not as expensive either. I only use flash occasionally and for my purposes the Sigma does the job every time. If I was a heavy flash user I'd probably stump up for the Canon purely because of the better build quality. Other than that I don't think there is much the Canon can do that the Sigma can't.

I have the 550EX and it's a pain in the tits, very inconsistant. I had a metz 45 years ago. probably still have somewhere, and it was great. I'd go with Carrigman on this.
