mouse double clicks even though i press it once

    Don't know if this is the right placce to post this but i am having trouble with my mouse. Every time i price the button once it recognises it as a double click. I can't fing anything in the mouse control panel to rectif this.

    Any help apprecitated

    What version of Windows are you using? What mouse do you have? Are you using custom drivers, or generic Windows ones?

    Do you have Active Desktop enabled?

    using windows xp. have a usb mouse. brand is "targus" modelamu01. Don't know answers to other questions as not that computer literate...... eek!

    Open My Computer, and go into the Tools menu. Click on Folder Options. In the box that says Click Items as Follows, is single click or double click selected?

    How long has this problem been happening? Has the computer been restarted since it occured first?

    Been happening about a week now. Computer has been rebooted. the double click to open an icon is sellected in that menu.
