Heard this morning that Delta are now flying Dublin-Shannon-JFK
    Just checked a few prices...
    seem very reasonable...
    1. example
Dublin, Ireland (DUB) to New York-Kennedy, NY (JFK) on Wed, 23 Aug 2006
New York-Kennedy, NY (JFK) to Dublin, Ireland (DUB) on Wed, 30 Aug 2006
    Price, inclu. taxes: 330euro

    With Aerlingus:
    527euro, inlcuding taxes...

Now the taxes for the Delta flight seem very cheap so some more investigation needs to be done to confirm low price, but looking good.

    Just checked Delta T&C's closer,
SURCHARGES ORIG NYC 40.00 USD MISC/OTHER PER DIRECTION
    ORIG IRELAND
    35.00 EUR MISC/OTHER PER DIRECTION
    TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR
FURTHER RESTR APPLY SEE TEXT RULE

Would like to follow through and see the ACTUAL price one would pay... any volunteer to do this? ;)

I went all the way through this, as far as actually paying for the ticket, and it still says
    Fare U.S. Tax(es) Base Fare Taxes/Fees Subtotal
    €288.00 (EUR) €22.98 (EUR) €310.98 (EUR) €19.02 (EUR) €330.00 (EUR) 1 €330.00 (EUR)
When do they tack on the extra charges?

later in the summer continental.com prices will come back down, outside of summer season i was regularly finding one way flights either way for about $180. ual.com have deals you should look up as well, you might have to fly to london, but the connecting flight would be pennies with ryanair! but that guy's right €330 is bout as good as it gets!:)

Took that route with United a couple of times. bit tedious hanging around Heathrow for 6-7 hrs, but you will probably save €80-90. If you don't mind the scenic route, KLM via Amsterdam is another to look at.

$10 each way fuel surcharge not bad comparing to Aer Lingus's €35 each way charge

Yep, booked these flights, €329 return total price direct to JFK from Dublin.

No extra charges are payable, after much head scratching, the surcharges appear to be for changing flights.

I'm looking forward to my trip! :)

    Are you serious?

They aren't gonna nab you on the day or anything?

I honestly just can't believe they're that price!
