Does anyone know of a decent BMW mechanic/service garage in dublin? I've searched boards but the last thread I found on this topic had no contact info.. The car is a 96' 328i and all the service lights on the dashboard are lighting up:).. The clutch is also making strange noises and the front left brake makes a horrible clicking noise when I press it!!

    My wallet is prepared...

I can tell you how to reset the service lights with a piece of wire but not how to fix the rest.

What part of Dublin are you?

    M & A Cars
    182 James St Dublin

or put a post on http://www.bmwcarclubforum.co.uk/forum_topics.asp?FID=5 and ask the question there if M&A doesn't suit

I find Dalkey Motor Services very good. They're BMW specialists.

Thank you all for the advice/contacts. It's tough to find a decent mechanic who won't charge through the roof for an old BMW.. And thanks Lex for the offer but it really does need a service!! so I'll let the garage reset the lights.

ps: on a totally different topic.. The head gasket is fine.. no problems at all. But I know in a year or so when I get a bit of cash together I'll want to replace it. I've heard figures thrown around ranging from €1200:confused: to over €2300:eek: .. Anyone know how much it should cost??

why would you want to replace it when there is nothing wrong with it?

Have to recommend Al in AC Cars too, have had my E36 in with him plenty of times. Top service and very reasonable. You'll get him on 01 4531433.

    Ah, my bad.

In general, do back street BMW specialists have laptops/PC's with BMW software and diagnostics/update tools etc, rather than a 5 euro "service interval reset" tool bought off ebay?
