i like the second picture, but tbh the others lack anything really eye catching, lovely focus and b/w conversion tho. what are you going for with them

the first one is just cos a ship on the quays with a massive gun turrett on it is a bit scary i reckon.

the third one is from the pheno. just thought it was fun/ironic that all those benches had been placed there to look out over and up to the mountains but now the trees had grown so high that you can only sit and look at them

I wouldn't really classify them as "Street work". The B & W conversion is good but, in the park one for example, I would burn in the sky a little. It would then draw more focus to the subject.

I like the second but a little burning here and there would vary the tones. and add to the interest. Good effort though. The bloomin' car is nearly as old as myself. Ah how time flies. :p

I like the second one a lot. Looks like it's from a different era altogether. Nice one.

i know, my linguistic terminology needs more attention :o
-for the park one, theres nothing in the sky left to burn so anymore in photoshop just makes it look dead obvious (and theres nothing worse).
-the second one hasnt had anything done to it yet but ill work away and see what comes.......thanks for your comments...

When there is nothing in the sky that is the time to burn. I don't mean burn in detail that isnt there. What I mean is to darken the sky but not in a uniform manner. It makes the sky more dramatic and takes the white plain look off it. It also pushes the eye towards the main subject.

It's a technique used by all the B&W masters. I did it all the time when I developed my own but haven't really got into digital B&W yet because I haven't figured out a way I'm happy with, hence my interest in Greysoul's technique.

i know - i do it myself all the time in the darkroom but cant quite get d hang of it in photoshop. wud be nice if greysoul deconstructed one of his images like everyones askin! he seems to have digital b+w down to a t

Agreeing with Valentia - Second one could be fantastic with some burning and dodging I think!
