    http://shop.sonystyle-europe.com/SonyStyle/b2c/deeplink.do?countryId=IE&s=external&ss=notebooks&langId=EN&campaignId=LEC-LP05NAVIE

    look for this model VGNSZ1XP/C.CEK

1.25kg mdel with smaller screen VGNTX2HP/W.CEK no dual core processor though

look at www.laptopsdirect.ie for thinkpad x41

The spec is way lower, so it depends what your intended use is, but I'd check out the Sharp MM10 - can't beat it for portability, connectivity is std WiFi / LAN / USB / etc.

'Fraid not, though you can be forgiven for thinking so as Samsung have done their best to make it confusing.

The Dell Latitude X1 is the same as the Samsung Q30.

The Samsung (Sens) X1 is rather a different beast, even if it's going after the same type of customer. Top loading optical drive (as opposed to the LatX1/SamQ30 which is external, no touchpad, comes with a remote control, rather larger screen, side speakers (the Dell and Q30 have one mono speaker) and a piddly space bar. 1.7 kilos as opposed to the 1.1 the Dell weighs but they're not including the weight of the optical drive in the latter.

As for the Latitude X1, it's overpriced - it's out about a year and the price hasn't dropped. Might be a bit more value if they included a 1.2GHz processor as opposed to the 1.1 they've been pushing for the last year. Having said that, I rather like it.

The q30 has stereo speakers, see below.

Ah, didn't have in the original release, thanks for the correction. I see they've upgraded the processor as well.

Laptops direct have an acer that'd do:

    http://www.laptopsdirect.ie/Acer_TravelMate_3010_Dual_Core_Laptops/prod.asp

1.65kg for €1400-€1560 yet pretty much as powerful as any normal-sized laptop that'd be around the same price.

Actually Aldi on parnell st still have some laptos left. €1099 with 60gb, and add-ons so you can watch tv. Can't remember the rest though.
