I was just eating a fruit pastille and half a filling came out. There's no pain, but I can feel the spot with my teeth. If I go to the dentist (shock horror), will he have to remove the whole filling and redo it? Or can he just replace the bit that fell out?

I think its always best get the whole thing removed and replaced....filling tend not to fall out for no reason...maybe there is some decay underneeth or the cavity is not the correct shape to retain a filling.....get it all removed seewhats underneath and get it replaced.

    Hey Faith,

Go to the dentist and get it seen to. I had the same happen in November when I was in Thailand, I didn't trust the Dentists over there, so I bought a quick dental repair kit from the local equivilant of Boots, it's like a type of putty that hardens quickly. Washed my mouth with Listerine and pushed in the clay. I got it seen to when I came home, but you'd be suprised at the amount of bacteria that got in while it was uncovered for even a short while.

IMHO, and experience, the Dentist will just drill away what's there, and any additional decay, and re-fill. No biggie :-)

    Owen.

    Well, that was absolutely horrendous...

And he managed to find another 2 cavities while he was there. Fecker and his fancy X-rays.

Good thing that filling fell out then, if those cavities had developed you could have been in lots of pain!

I hate dentists.....mostly because my teeth are incredibly sensitive, for example, I had to get a filling so he gave me an anesthetic but I could still feel my mouth so he gave me a second dose, but I could still feel him drilling into my teeth:( I asked for more but he said that is un-advised....it hurt:(
