The hearing was on the 24th of April, and I'd say we'll have a solid idea on it by mid-June, but I'm not sure exactly how long it usually takes the BCI to decide these things. There have been some delays due to new details which Newstalk didn't mention in their original application:

As you can see from that, we could be left with exactly the same station in Dublin, and an additional national station; of course there's a lot for them to sort out first... it's a bit of a rock and hard place for them; split their audience with two stations or go national and lose the local content... unless they don't plan on broadcasting Newstalk National in Dublin?? I'd say they'd basically be the exact same station, bar news broadcasts, and the odd Dublin-orientated feature

    they got the national license!

Also, did the address newstalk.ie always take you to their site? I always went to newstalk106.ie, but just noticed the other url when I googled. Any chance that they're changing their broadcasting frequency or somethin?

yeah dave, they're giving up the 106 frequency in dublin. IIRC, isn't this service on MW or something?

According to the BCI release they're keeping 106; here... it will actually be 106-107.

newstalk.ie has been there a good while, although I find that typing in just newstalk.ie brings you to some kind of admin login page, www.newstalk.ie brings you to the proper site.

    Two points.
    1. I was a committed listener but they have been dumbing down for months. I've returned to RTE.
    2. They've indroduced a nice little earner by using an expensive text number. It now costs 30c to text.

    Dumbing down!!!!!....hesu......thats a good one.

30c. for the texts....Unfortunately Jackie....some goons will pay it.....
