Soldiers of World War II crashing

i bought a copy of soldiers of world war II yesterday to run on my laptop and it installed fine. When i run the game though it doesnt even show a splash screen it just crashes with a blue screen and the pc restarts. The blue screen appears and disappears too quickly to catch what it says but there's a line about windows…

i've tried patching the game and all my drivers are up to date.
my spec is a Sony Vaio FE-11H

intel centrino duo - 1.66Ghz
1024mb RAM DDR2
Geforce Go 7400 256mb
Windows Media Centre Edit.
