I know rainy season ends around Sept - Oct, was thinking of going in Sept... Would it be that wet? The average rainfall appears to be 200mm in comparison to Irelands 700 - 1000 mm... Intially this doesnt seem too bad, but can ppl just confirm it? Want to go for 3 weeks backpacking.

BY the way dublin september average rainfall is approx 62mm here not a crazy 1000mm

In Bangkok Spetember is the wettest month of the year 320mm (here

Same for Phuket, even wetter at 420mm (here. Also it will rain for average of 22 days of 30 in October

I've been a few times in July and regardless what people might say about the rain lasting only 45 minutes, you can easily get days with very little sun and plenty of showery rain - It doesn't seem like September will be any better

Different regions are going to be a little variable. Later in the year you can leave it the better it will be.

Rainy season only starts to end in november. Go then if you can. Also be aware that the seas on the west coast are rougher during rainy season and you won't be advised to swim in them

i was there in rainy season, its fine - rains once a day for less than an hour and then its grand. better than the blistering heat of the dry season.

'Rainy' reason is fine. It won't in anyway ruin your holiday and delaying your holiday because of it probably isnt the best idea.

    There are two rainy seasons.
    • End of May / Start of June
    • September / October

As the lads said above, September is fine and it's only rainy with a huge downpour for an hour or 2 or 3, not like the ****e drizzely days back home. But, it's also the low season!

Yep i have to agree with the above. I was there sept/oct last year and it rarely rained for more than a couple of hours a day. I can only remember one full day of rain in a month and that was in bangkok.

Accomodation's gonna be cheaper too cos it's low season and places wont be as packed with tourists either. everything gets more expensive in november. so sept is deffo a good time to go
