Nice but i dont know much about the PSU your getting.

The PSU is quite a bit overkill unless your planning a dual GPU setup (even that) but there is nothing wrong with it per say.

A good quality 450W PSU would power the system perfectly fine with room for expansion anything out side of dual GPU's that is.

Admirable, I love Crossfire boards myself. PSU isn't as overkill as previously suggested as I assume in the future you'll have dual GPU's. Great. Nice. Wonderful.

Nice setup ,very nice indeed. Those crossfire boards with the new north briges are supposed to be very good overclockers the are very raeirly the limitign factors in an overclock!! Seeing as you are spending so much you mught want to try and get a 20" moniter as its native resolution will be 1600,1200 whereas the 19"'s native resolution will be lower (the same as a 17" i just cant remember what that resolution is at the momen.

    Very nice rig!

I'm way overdue an upgrade myself, and there's some really tempting price cuts on X1900XT's and 7900GTX's at overclockers.co.uk at the moment, but I'm hanging on for conroe and DX10 :).
I'm still on AGP so an upgrade means the works, otherwise I'd grab an X1900XT now.

I have the cash for full upgrade now, and it's really hard to hold back when I see specs like yours :)

must wait for conroe... must wait for conroe... must wait for conroe... must wait for conroe...

The newest part of my rig is the 6800U, which is now 2 yrs old :).

hey try the dfi crossfire board on overclockers.co.uk its ment to be the best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,969 ✭✭✭christophicus

Does that have the RD580 northbrige?? I know there was an old version that didnt have the RD northbrige which would not be as good as the board you have specified. I think the saphire boards usually have decent BIOS options anyway.

Sir random your system is still amaizing and would easily play any of todays games!!

Look in my sig to see a pc that needs an upgrade!!!

Ahhh, It seems like only yesterday the old 6800ultra was the card to have.......:D

But Wow it must have been some card 2 years ago, 16 pixel pipelines and 256mb of Gddr3 at 1ghz:eek:

Its holding up fairly well and is still a very decent card:)

And the DFI board that Chris is talking about is the DFI CFX3200-DR, I know a guy on forums.amd.com with a 148 at 2.9ghz, so it overclocks just as well if not better than the nforce4 ultra based boards....
