Apologies if this has already been covered (please direct me with a link if it has).

Have finally got rid of SKY (never watched it and it wasnt worth the 60 euro per month), anyway now I'm left with the Digibox and card (i'm well outside my contract so they didnt ask for it back when I cancelled).

Can I use the Digibox to receive the 4 Irish channels and/or any of the BBC channels ??

Have looked on here and have read a bit about these UK FTA Cards - is there anyway around not getting one of these (to get BBC) or do I just by a cheap aerial to pick up RTE1, RTE2, TV3 and TG4 ??

Also - does anyone know if I can get Setanta (for the rugby) without an an active SKY subscription?

Any help would be greatly fully appreciated - Cheers.

I also got sick of sky.. ""what you don't want to watch"". you probabily know about going into sky news interactive and then flip the card over and reinsert to bring up all bbc and itv channels between 101 & 120 with the full epg.

pitty the blocked sky channels still come up just to anoy you.

myself I'm going to buy a new reciever today.

    regards. tom.

if its any use to you, BBC 2 Wales and S4C both cover the Celtic League. both channels are free

    Don't reinsert the card..
    Simply 501
    press red.
    wait for interactive
Remove card. Do NOT re-insert it ever.

    Press backup.

The sequence only needs repeated if the box is unplugged or there is a power cut.

    The irish channels won't work.

There is some suggestion that a Setanta package does work without a main Sky package. Some other independant packages do too.

Will this work if you have got the full package.

This works no matter what package you have.

    Hienz,
Silly comments like that and you can get banned...

The FTA receivers don't do BBC/Sky interactive which still works without a sub.

The Sky has full almost two week program guide and personal planner and the FTA boxes have only Now/Next.

It receives all the BBC & ITV, even if they change transponder (The FTA boxes need manual scan).

At least 40 decent TV channels and 70 Radio, same as a 150 Euro FTA sytem.

Thanks Lads - I'll give that a try.

SKY sent me a letter saying that my last 'Sky day' was 12 May. . .as at this evening I'm still getting the signal. . .they only charged me for a part month when I cancelled on the 12th of April. . theyd better not charge me again!

Well, enjoy them while they last! :)

Watty, the Sky Planner is only a week, not a fortnight. At least, that's the way it is on my standard digibox. Maybe Sky+ boxes carry a fortnight?

You could mark any channels you watch as favorites and use the blue button to browse through only them.

they will , i cancelled in february and am still having problems, getting bills , i ring them up , they apologise then sent out the bill and payment demands again

My advise id to go to the bank and stop the direct debit as otherwise if you end up in the same situation as me, you will have to cahse them for money
