Phoneline to skybox for setanta sub?

anyone know if you need your sky box hooked to a phoneline to start a new sub to setanta? have no phoneline in the house, wondering if it will be a problem?

No phoneline is required for Setanta subscription, although you are asked for a phone number, mobile will do fine. Best place to subscribe is online at setanta.com too, their call centre staff are fairly understaffed so you would be spending quite a bit of time on the phone waiting at your own expense.

if i try online, a home phone number, and a sky box phone number are requied. If i put in my mobile number it won't work

Yes, I've just tried the form again, it has changed since I subscribed in early 2005. I'm a Setanta Sports subscriber since then and my box is never ever connected to a phoneline, so you will get away with putting in something that looks like a right number as in your correct area code and some random seven digit number but it is up to you whether you want to do this.

okay, one last question how do they update your box to authorize the channels? is it by phone line or by satellite signal? if it is by phone line if i give the wrong number then it won't get authorized right?

All box updates be they software updates or channel authorizations are done via satellite signal.

I remember when i rang setanta a lady with a scottish accent asked me did I want the uk lineup of channels or the irish one naturally i went for the irish one because of the premier league.

I have Sky multiroom, whats the read on getting Setanta on both boxes for one fee. I already have the Setanta package from the last year, and its only on the main box. I have heard that they changed this so you get it on both boxes for one payment.

Anybody know about this?
