    Hey all,
    I'm 17 and I have an interview for bartender on monday,
    I'm just wondering what's the story with laws around this?
    Any info would be mucho appreciated.

    You'll proberly be a lounge boy untill you hit 18, as its illegal for minors (kids under 18) to serve drink.

    It is NOT illegal for an U18 to serve alcohol. The problems arise out wether you are still in school or not and working after 11/10pm.

    If you are still in school you cannot work past 10pm on a school night or 11pm on a Friday/Saturday.

    IIRC there are very few problems with starting as an U18 95% of pubs will let you work until closing every night but officially you are supposed to be off the premises @ 11

    I think you can work as a barman from 16 if it's a family owned pub, was some weird stipulation like that, again may just end up working as a loungeboy
