    Hi guys

I'm heading away diving for the summer and looking for recommendations re: where I can get dive insurance that covers me to 40m?

    Any suggestions?

Level 2 insurance will cover Scuba Diving upto depths of 40m. Although I'm sure one of our regulars will know of a better place.

I pay €67 per annum for multi-trip policy that covers Scuba to 30mtr (all I need!). It's a discounted plan offered to IEI members by Brassington Insurance in Rathfarnham Ph:4061666. I'm not sure whether they deal direct to the public, or what the extra might be.

Basic cover is 68 euro. I have this policy myself. Well worth it if things go wrong particularly if you're abroad. It'll cover you for any diving you'll be doing...

    Second that last post.

Been with DAN for a good few years now. Reason is that DAN will, if necessary, fly you home or fly your spouse out to you.

Air ambulance is covered, and you are covered to a depth of 60m. I believe in the US they only cover to 40m.

Some places I have gone to won't let you dive unless you have either DAN or Divemaster ins. cover. No other was acceptable.

Was with Divemaster for a year, but found DAN to better suit the anywhere-in-the-world, all risks cover that gives me peace of mind.

Some other ins. policies are third party only, so you are covering your buddy only. Beware and read the small print.

Which would you say is better?

    Snowcard or DAN?

Just did a check on Snowboard and got a quote for roughly the same limits as I have with DAN. Quote was £119, about E180. More expensive than my cover.

DAN is specifically for divers. If you make an emergency call a diving doc is available 24/7 365 days of the year to advise on the medical aspects of any rescue, and coordinate any lift to a chamber.

Don't forget, DAN can organise rescues through its many affiliates in SE Asia/S. Africa/USA etc.

Altogether, IMO, a better bet worldwide - even though I never want to have to use them. But I do know someone who has, in the Caribbean, and he said they were absolutely excellent delivering on all they promised.

I'm with DAN and also insured via BSAC.
