Elara Problems

I'm trying to return a faulty motherboard at the moment,
which is proving to be a nitemare, the receptionist is screening my calls
and it's impossible to get hold of anyone.

I've put through a RMA about 2 weeks ago and heard nothing since, just that they were "looking into it" now I have recieved an email stating that Elara are in liquidation!?

Surely they could not be able to sell and have wwekly offers if they were in liquidation. I mean anyone who buys anything fro them now has no comeback if the product is faulty. This is a disgraceful business practice, is it legal. I would have thought that any company selling products must have the capacity to repair replace or refund and damaged goods. I don't recall unsecure creditor being in the customer rights list

Not sure if this is the right section mod feel free to move it if it's not.

    Thank you for reading

You might get a bit of help on the elara board here

The "liquidation thing" could have something to do with the companies name change? Just a thought. They're still online and selling so dont' worry too much. Just post on the elara board as Truckle pointed out.
You should get an answer quick enough.

Thank you tuckle but there is very little activity there and I would most likely only be dealing with elara representatives and other disgruntled customers.

Here at least I have a better chance of someone who can help seeing the post.

I've been in contact with Elara numerous times in the past month and today is the first time that I have heard liquidation mentioned.
There is also no obvious indication that the company is in liquidation on their website.

I thought that the company was under new management, and that it was the old company that had been liquidated and then all its assets bought up by the new company, or something like that.

There's a message on the Elara forum as late as Wednesday 10th May from Catalyst who works for them with the special offers for this week. Not too many signs of 'disgruntled customers' there either.

In November, Elara was put into liquidation, but continued to trade.

They got new management/bought in Feb this year. Changed to Elara Online

According to www.cro.ie, their trading status is normal.
Can you post the email that you received?

You might as well post to the elara board. We can only comment about our own problems, or lack of, which doesn't help you.

Have a look at BillCork's message here then.

I just want the issue resolved and I don't like being messed about.
I am reluctant to post the e-mail here.
I'll post a thread on the elara page also.

In fairness, that whole thread was from late last year when they were going through the whole liquidation / buy-out process. There's not much sign of any disgruntlement at the moment. As for BillCork's message, he posted one solitary message and hasn't been heard of since, rather strange, don't you think? A bit of industrial espionage from the 'competition' perhaps?

I don't know the protocol with this, but if you need it I can give you the contact details for Elara's main supplier.
You might be able to return the faulty MB to them.
Post the product code of the MB and I'll check if Elara got it from this supplier.

Have you considered driving out to Elara, kicking in their door and taking what's yours?

Ok, Catalyst says in response that they're not in liquidation.

Can you say whether the liquidation email came from Elara or a colleague?
