I've sold my 80-200mm EF Lens that I had for my 350D and I was looking for a replacement. I was toying with either the Canon 50mm 1.8 or else the cosina listed below. I couldnt find any reviews about the cosina so is it something to stay clear of?

I need a relatively good (and cheap as always) lens for low light indoor stuff (gigs, night clubs etc.) I would go as far as 200 euro. The range of zoom isnt a huge issue as I'm normally fairly close. I'm planning on a 70-200 (or 300m) zoom lense later on anyway.

    Wow a 28-210 or a 50mm. That's some choice ;)

As I and many others here have said regularly the Canon 1.8 is an absolutely beautiful lens. Plasticy, cheap but fantastic sharpness and DOF. Don't hesitate you wont regret it. As you say you'll be getting a zoom later on.

I'll second the opinion on the Canon 50mm f/1.8. It's a great lens, very fast and gives great results. Once described to me by someone in the business as 'L lens performance for a fraction of the price'.

On a 350D it will give a focal length of around 85mm.

well I bought the 50mm today and all I can say is "oh my god!" What a lens! I've just been pissing about at home in the garden but the results are incredible. Lack of zoom takes a bit to get used to initially but the results are worth it. Of course the only thing is now I realise that I need to change the kit lense too. Any suggestions there?
