This is an incredible story. I never understood how people fell for these scams, but after reading this a few times I understand it better now.

Otherwise "savvy" people fall for them all the time. In some cases it's Darwinism in action, in others, desperation, in others yet, it's simply honest to god greed.

For every ten monkeys hammering away in a Lagos internet cafe, there is one producing enough Shakespearean sonnets to make it all viable, and keep the scent of dollars in the nostrils of his fellows.

The fight is far from over.

Football scambaits can be entertaining. The possibility of a trophy photo where the mugu (would be scammer) has to cajole/pay off ten of his mates into wearing similiar clothing (think discount early eighties football strips) in order to appear to be a legitimate soccer team is a great thing to land in your inbox.

I haven't gotten one yet, not in five years of trying. Others have though.
