    Is there anyone whos knows anymore about this job, im a commerce finals student. Looks interesting but im not sure if id know enough of the relevant fields.

    Sure apply for it if you meet the required qualifications.
    You wouldn't be expected to know about all the listed functions.
    Some are probably unique to the departments.
    You'd get plenty of training before getting thrown into it.

    There's also IT positions available there...

    Be warned however that a lot of companies won't want to touch you after you've worked for the public sector.

    I rekon the public sector is the way to go! Its practically impossible to lose your job once you get in and as far as I can see the money is way better. You have the pension too and the career break after you do your initial 2 years...happy days! I know if I got in I'd never go back to any of the US multinationals anyway, they are stingey!

    Read Madmoe's post for a few reasons. Other's include the fact that public sector workers have a bad reputation for not being compeditive, dedicated and enthusiastic about their work/career while suffering from a god-given right to a job complex. This reputation can count against you in some places. A few bad eggs messing it up for everyone else is the main issue imho.
