Is it really possible to make cash off these ads with a reasonable amount of traffic and clicks??

Also has anybody any experience with banner ad trading with companies, where you trade banner ads and earn credits for your own banner ad for displaying other sites banner ads on your own site?
Not too sure how its works and whether it can improve a sites traffic? Does anyone have any info regarding this?

By being the exception rather than the rule. A lot of people don't make much money out of it. Unless you happen to have a high traffic site (or 5!), don't expect to give anything up any time soon.

I make a decent amount on them, not a living by any means, but for almost no work it isn't bad.
