Dolphin fielded a player who was signed up as a Bandon RFC player. Such a player needs a dispensation to appear (I think), as the player was ileligible, Dolphin can be deducted 2 points for breaching the rules, if they are deducted 2 points, Young Munster get promoted. (don't think the game was last week though)

Personally I think it's tough on Dolphin but rules are rules, the points should be deducted.

I hope not - I am looking forward to a day in lansdowne on Saturday supporting the 'Nure - if this goes ahead the game will be off. At the same time I would like to see Munsters up. I doubt the IRFU wil do anything about it - it's getting a bit close to the deadline.

From www.terenurecollegerfc.com "Terenure College RFC regret to advise that due to a dispute involving Young Munster and Dolphin rugby clubs the IRFU have confirmed that this Saturday’s Division two final at Lansdowne road has been postponed. Further information will follow."

Looks like Suttonians and Clonakilty will get their wish.

Heard it off alright. Real shame! Would have been a great day for the game if the weather was like this.

Any news of when its being rescheduled to??

I think it would be more of a pity for the game if the rules weren't adhered to. It might cause some inconvenience but I don't see how YM can be deprived a promotion if they dispute is valid.

Heard a few things now in the last few days. The reason Dolphin had a player not listed at the start was they had two hookers and one got injured and they had to draft another by IRFU rules. They picked this guy who used to play for Pres,as cover. Now the thing is his father is the Bandon President and YM are claiming he is a Bandon player due to this. But if im correct if he played for Pres he probably played in the Bone Shield and you can only register in a team after that and only once in a season:cool:

Heard that YM were bitching as well about Mike Prendergast. What a story........it goes that YM claim that as Declan Kidney used be part of Dolphin he kept Mike out by picking him on the Munster team so Dolphin would get promoted.

All in all grasping at straws IMO

No offence Nukem, but that's rubbish. Dolphin broke the rules, they could have got proper clearance to use the player but lacked the competence to do so, so now, rather than put their hands up and say "Yeah we messed up" they're trying to use the whole "ah sure what harm anyway" excuse. They made the mistake (and in fairness, who doesn't realise a schools senior cup player is tied?) and now want to to avoid the penalty.

The argument about Mike Prendergast is a funny one, the night before YM's biggest game of the season, Kidney (a former Dolphin coach) decides to give YM's best player (Mike P) his first start of the season, you can understand why the YM supporters might question where Kidney's loyalties lie.
