Was playing a sng and noticed two of the players were from the same area(can happen) but they kept saying nh etc to each other and they never once bet when the other bet and would take pauses b4 the flop....

Everytime they had to go i a hand together they checked it down every time(one of them had trip aces)

Was on PP just thought it was a bit dodgy... is it hard to get onto the same sng table?

btw in the pic the same hand was just a coincedence...

It is very possibe - I play in a net cafe myself and there are 5-6 regulars who come in and play on ppp . it has been sugested to me to go into the same table as someone but i said no,as I'm the kinda of person who wouldn't like it to be done to me . it is very easy to sit at the same stt .

you can even go into the same STT fromt her same ip address however the same cash game is impossible. there are def people out there colluding but its all a bit distasteful, imo itl be the main reason for interent pokers demise.

Can't say ive seen it myself but I can't imagine it being too hard, stay on the phone to eacother and call out hands or even msn or something, though hopefully there's ways to catch people out - can the client software detect things like the same players regularly playing together??

Its more likely they are mates soft playing each other (which doesnt make it right).
Its a $6 STT if I'm reading the screen right, and if people have to collude to make money at that level, then they are probably so bad at the game that you should be confident of beating them anyway.
There have been a couple of threads on here where collusion has been spotted (the Norway thread springs to mind) - maybe someone who knows how to could link you to it?
    AJs.

If you tell PPP they will instantly freeze both of their accounts, confiscate all the money, and return your $6.

I think stts are probably where you will experience most collusion online, however it is quite easy to spot and you can report it and get em banned.

I dont think it is as common as you might think though I have played a lot more stts lately at the £120 to £500 level and I havent been suspicious of anything yet.

Down to your own preference I think, but I dont soft play anyone, I have played a couple of stts with Daithio and KP and they have never given me a break either, no quarter asked none given. (not that either of those two need me to give them a break lol)

    what's the problem??

two players can sit at the same table and it's not collusion... even if they check hands down... so do two strangers when a short stack is all in...

I saw one person make a big raise, everybody folded except one, he made a small raise and the first person folded... risky but it worked that time, i typed in 'Risky...' and they said they were brothers.... (the second guy was very low on chips).... this is collusion but it didn't bother me... could I have got my money back?
I think I won that game anyway....

    Cheers
    Joe

But if their connection goes down it wasn't their fault.

Its more likely they are mates soft playing each other (which doesnt make it right).

i have to admit that i have sat into STT's and my mate (by coincidence, not planned) would be at the same table... my mate i have played with thousands of times and know him to be a tight player, so if he's not in a hand i'm likely to play something like a10 against a raise, but if he raises i'm likely to fold a10. I've even checked down quad 4's hoping he will stick in a big steal (which he has a tendency to do on an uncontested pot)bet so it could look like collusion given that i'd play it different against someone i have less knowledge about. The thing is i openly chat to my mate in the game and he is on my buddy list so its very clear to everyone that i know him. I dont think its collusion if you adapt your game to a player you know, i.e. soft playing. Even in a live tournement a mate of mine would be moved to my table and we'd avoid pots with eachother, not because we're hoping to help eachother, but we're weary of losing our entire stack to eachother, effectively out of respect... so where does respect for a mates play end and collusion start??

eg. i dont know ollieboy all that well but have played with him once or twice.. obviously i know him to be a better player than me so i make a concious decision to avoid him... surely this is not collusion, even though i am purposefully not trying to take ollieboys chips, hoping rather to get chips off other looser players..??

isnt it the other way around?

I don't think this is the same thing DIT. Softplaying is not checking quads when you are hoping for a bet but more like check calling with the nuts or something like that. Avoiding better players than you is a common play and is in no way collusion.

To give an example, I was at a cash game and two players were involved in a pot. After the river one player bet (say 50) and the other called his bet and never raised, although he had the stone cold nuts. now either he's softplaying or doesnt like money. I questioned his play and both players left the table asap.
