Here's one I took yesterday night in Blackrock Park, the water was very calm and gave a mirror like reflection. I love the result :D
Shutter speed is 30 seconds, ISO 100 and aperture f/6.3

Both are great - the second one just edges it for me with the colours. Which was the more realistic, though? It would seem, with the sodium lighting, that teh first shot is the more true to life than the second one ?

agreed .... looks out of this world :)

what software are you using to be able to export your RAW image?

Someone gave me a link on here to some sofware from microsoft, but you need to have SP2 installed, which i dont want on my pc.

The first shot is the most realistic by far. I took the shot last evening at 11pm so the sky was dark (well...orange/brownish from the light polution in and around Dublin).

I use RAWShooter, the free version. Just google for rawshooter and you'll find the site to download it :). There's also a commercial version available, I might buy that one, but for now I'm happy with the free version of Rawshooter.

Excellent shots Dimy. I got the full version of Rawshooter recently and it is very versatile. I'm still learning the ropes.

What are the advantages of the full version and the free version? Can you for example batch process a number of images with the same settings? That's something I'm missing in the free version... (or I'm just too stupid to figure out how)

Do you change the white balance afterwards with the raw file? Or is the second pic a different image with the white balance adjusted before you took the picture.

It's the same photo processed from 1 RAW file. I just changed the white balance in the RAW.

Yes. It's a simple as copy and paste. Select the thumbs that you want the same settings pasted to. I'm not sure what the full feature list is between the free and the paid version. I probably bought it one night when I came in from the pub. I do that occasionally and only remember when the parcel arrives in the post  Though that was obviously not the case with Rawshooter...oh never mind :p

I like the second one because I'm a sucker for that deep blue colour of the sky. But I thikn it would look more like night time if it was just that bit darker, so the street lights really stood out as a light source.

Very interesting shot. Shows how you don't notice how bright street lamps are because of the orange tint they have, but with only the white balance adjusted the grass looks like it was shot in the day time.

When I come into power in this country, all street lights shall be white... Sodium lights do my head in!
