Got a industrial type orbital sander in McQuilans about 7years ago. To save me going the middle man route(back through MCQuilans) can anyone recommend a place that fixes sanders/drills etc on the N/side of Dublin

    Cheers

What make? Does the manufacturer have a repair facility here in Ireland? What kind of problem is it, anyway? An orbital sander isn't exactly a complicated beast after all, and you may just be able to repair it yourself.

ITs a Hitachi Alun, never thought to see if they had a base here;) . Could well be its just the brushes as the motor is not turning over as fast as it should

Hitachi have a base in Dublin but it is just trade sales. To get repairs or parts you need to go to an agent. These are normally hire companies like J.W Hire in Coolock or A-Z in Walkinstown. Either will be able to sell you the parts or repair the tool if you leave it in. Labour charges can be high so if you can do it just buy the parts.

If it's the brushes, they're usually pretty easy to replace. Sometimes there's even instructions in the user manual on how to do this. Could also be just bunged up with dust and just in need of a good cleanout, or at the worst bearings on the way out :(

Opened it up and as you say Alun not much to them.Cleaned it out, checked wires, bearing, coil and all seem to be ok. Brushs seem to have some like left on them but maybe not enough, will look into getting some more

I worked in McQuilans for 2 months about two summers ago, and unless your going to repair the tools yourself, they are the only people that fix hitachi tools! I worked in services and all hitachi tools come back to the workshop on capel st. from all over ireland! Any hardware wtore with hitachi power tools sends them back to McQuilans!
