Hi all I'm a recent graduate with a years experience.

I'm just wondering what I.T courses are the best at the moment, I'm not sure whether to study for the CCNA or study the microsoft exams?

Anyone have any opinions on which ones are the best and also prices? what are employers looking for ??

I have a certificate in computer networking and also degree in I.T management?

What sort of experience do you have, ie, are you working with servers? Or with routers/switches/firewalls etc?
If the former, and you have got real world experience, I would buy the books and try self study the MCSA/MCSE. If the latter, maybe go with a CCNA course?
Depends really what areas you want to get into later..

I havent really messed with servers/routers (ie I've just plugged them in patched network points etc but havent configured them), the work I'm doing is basically deskside/helpdesk support...basically fixing hardware/software issues on clients workstations/laptops, and looking after user accounts using active directory...

What area would you like to get into though - if more the networking side of things, go for the CCNA, for general windows $hite, go for MCSE..
I reckon if you have a couple of machines and a copy of Server 2003 and go through the book, you should be able to self study the MCSE. Well I can only talk for W2k as that was the track I did.
For CCNA, the cheapest course (bar the FAS E College one) I saw was in the BCT Institute - http://www.bct.ie
I personally wouldn't do the CCNA by self study unless I either had proper work experience with routers etc, or had a bit of Cisco kit myself to play with, IMHO.

I completed the CCNA course, following my Degree , about 4 years ago now. Its expired now as only lasted 2 years  .

I did it by just reading the book. I downloaded a Cisco IOS Simulator to get some practical experience of the IOS (Ciscos operating system -- Similar (ish) to DOS)
