very interesting indeed. Is there any information on when this will be out or how it will be available?

There will also be a Wii Opera browser:
    http://wiispot.com/opera-for-wii/106/

I'm guessing Opera are working on the premise that if a user has a Wii & a DS and uses Opera on them then realises that you can download Opera for their home computer they may migrate to Opera. This will be helped along if Opera can get the Wii, DS and home computer versions synched so the user can store bookmarks and other things online so no matter which machine you are on you have the same setup. Also little notes in the instructions for the browser like "also available for Windows, Mac and Linux" will raise awareness of the brand. FireFox might be winning the in the alternative browser war at the mo but could we see a shift in fortune in 12 months? Hell I'd be tempted to switch from FF if I thought I could have Opera on my work PC, iMac at home, DS and Wii along talking so that my browsing experience was identical no matter how I chose to surf cyberspace.

It won't be the same. I have it on my mobile and also a handheld. Both are quite different from the desktop version. I find Opera to be a great browser on small screens because of the zoom function when looking at sites. On the desktop (linux\windows\mac), I prefer Firefox. I find the Opera interface too cluttered.

Change it. Opera is really customisable out of the install package. No ****ing around with widgets or packages to install for added usability. One of the best parts I've found is the mouse jestures and the close button on each window, it saves so much movement. (although I can't say anything about the Mac or Linux versions, I haven't used them, but a linux program that isn't customisable!?)

While it's nice to have a browser on the DS I keep thinking... WTF? The screens are tiny! Although typeing in a web address wouldn't be as time consumeing with the stylus as the D-pad.. the same thought comes to mind with the Revolution. Mouse?... Oh yeah! Use the remote. Just like in Metroid, point at what you want. The Revolution will reach those places set top boxes could never get to, I mean, moveing a mouse on a 2d surface isn't that much different from moveing a laser pointer in a power point deminstration which the remote for the Rev will be like. Scince Opera is customisable and the remote is supposed to customisable aswell I can't see the buttons usually assiociated with browsers being a problem.

If you could use the light gun to aim at a link and get the quack-quack AND the spring-click sound... now that would be good.

Yeah, I've messed with the settings a bit and still haven't really found a setup I like yet. It's pretty much identical to the windows version on Linux, which means it stands out like a sore thumb compared to all the other apps because it has a different look and feel. I even use konqueror instead of it.
Having said that, I used galeon for ages on Linux and only switched to firefox when it reached version 0.7 so anything is possible :D .
I'd still recommend that anyone give it a try.

Browser on the wii... hrmm. I wonder if the USB port will allow for a keyboard to be attached, otherwise text input would be a pain in the ass

    (/me sees potential for a DS/wii link up :D)
