oh my god i cant beleave that they said that no one knew that they were making it and it was the biggest kept secret ever. that is the biggest load of bollox ever. everyone knew that it was being made it was up on about 100 sites halo 3 coming soon and this that and the other.everyone knew about it.(lol)(hehehe)

and other thing i can not even imagine what idiot wanted it to be released it 2007 what the **** is wrong with that. eveyone thought it was going to be released when the ps3 came out which is november 17 2006 or it would come out sooner then that and they go off and change it to 2007 and god knows when in 2007 proberly at the end near christmas

that was proberly the only reason that most people would have bought the xbox 360 this year but no i will wait until the thing goes down in price and get it when halo 3 is coming out.

only messin tryin to get one at the moment. but still why so late in 2007 iam just unhappy now

Yeah that sucks alright. But it is what I was expecting as we have had nothing offical all along. Would have been nice to see it this side of christmas.

I'd prefer to see it next year if it means we'll see a better game. Hopefully Bungie can come up with something special again.

Its coming out in 2007 to coincide with the Halo Movie release for added pimpness.

If I was a marketing manager I'd rather ride the "Produced by Peter Jackson" marketing wave than the "please don't buy the PS3" marketing wave.

Me personally, I'm heading to Oz for a year so it suits me fine. :D Can't wait.

The Halo film and Halo 3 will not be out on the same date nor will there release's effect each other. (Last Bungie Update)

Plus the MA5B Assault Rifle is back and such a welcome return it is.
The giant Forerunner structure is the Ark and the ruins Chief is walking through are those of New Mobassa. The Ark is/was deep within the Earth crust and was uncovered either by Plasma Bombardment from Orbit or by the Slipspace jump preformed by the Covenant ship within Earths atmosphere.

Its a Forerunner structure so you can bet it contains the Flood and its not a weapon but it will activate the remaining Halo's or deactivate them depending on the person at the controls.

Wrong, a varient of the assault rifle is back. It looks clearly different too, Much longer barrel for added accuracy.

I dont mind if Halo 3 is in development well into 2007, I want to see a totally polished flawless game with balanced gameplay and multiplayer that beats Halo 2 even, it will all be worth it in the end, I would hate to see this game rushed and out early.

If I can remember anythin about the making of halo2, the release date was canstantly moved back so i guessed it would be in 2007. Gonna be great though so what's the problem?

exactly, i reckon there's been enough new cool looking stuff demo'd at e3 this year to get pretty excited about, this ,mass effect, gears of war, not to mention bioshock on the PC

    source...???

There is no source but if you've played the games and read the novels its quite obivous, IMO. You can easily put two and two together, besides the ruins are of New Mobassa(Bungie said so) and the last thing that happened in New Mobassa was an atmospheric slipspace jump that could easily tear a chuck of the planet with it.

The structure is the Ark as thats why the Covenant came to Earth to find the Ark. The Ark is a Forerunner structure and all Forerunner structures has Flood infestments. The Ark is not a weapon but a structure that actives and deactives the remaining Halo's as pointed out by Guilty Spark 343 at the end of Halo 2. The energy build up in the Forerunner structure is not an explosion but a beacon to the Halo's.

After reading, 'The Fall of Reach', 'The Flood', and 'First Strike' you can easily put the storyline together right up to Halo 3. Plus the other Spartans will have to play a part in the third game, Bungie cant leave them out of it.(Fred, Will, Linda and Kelly(on secert mission with Dr.Hasley*)

*Dr Hasley designed the Mjolnor armor and hand picked the Children to be Spartans. She also designed Cortana and all other ONI/UNSC A.I.'s

Loved them in Halo (well, the appearance of them freaked me out), but yeah, they're a bit annoying alright.

I like fighting the flood. The way they jump at you is the thing that makes me jump sometimes - and I like that. Also they require tactics and are effective against heavy weapons because of their numbers. I like that RPGs and Sniper rifles are fairly useless against them so it forces you to have the shotgun and rifle.

Mixes it up a bit too..

The Flood are one of the things that stopped me loving the Halo games (the other being lazy level design and repetive corridors on half the levels). They are boring to fight against with AI ripped out of Doom since all they do is run straight at you or stand and shoot. Covenant are so much more fun to kill.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,074 ✭✭✭rgiller

Totally agree. I always found the flood levels a bit of a chore. Those little brains that fly at you are so small it's hard to shoot them, so my tactic was usually to just let them hit me. Fighting the covenant is definitely more enjoyable. Still a few annoying floodies aren't going to put me off getting this...

yep the flood & that fecking library level really ruined the first game,

yeh i remember that level it started off fine but really the repetitiveness there was mindnumbing, i mean i know they're the flood but that was ridiculous

In terms of how good the game looks, well I'll wait to see it in play before I make a judgement call on that. I remember being totall blown away by the first Halo 2 teaser trailer (the one where he drops off into space and heads for a Covenant ship). Everytime I saw the game after that it seemed to look worse and worse. That's not to say that the game looked bad (it looked great) just nowhere near as good as the initial trailer.:D

I thought the cut scenes in HALO 2 were done particularly poorly- the number of frames dropped, the crap 'pop-up' and the horrible character faces.

    Bad.

the videos were the exact same, bar the like 2 second pop up, which was gay agreed, but they were stilll kick ass, rather than mgs rendered fmv movies, the halo2 engine rendered the videos in real time.

MGS games render the cutscenes in real time. When you beat the game you can even move the camera around just to prove it. Halo 2 cutscenes were awful tbh.

I've read the books and I think the Ark is a repository of genetic info to reseed the galaxy after the Halos go off. I think the aim of the game in Halo3 will be to stop the flood getting into the Ark

I thought that Kelly was the only spartan left alive with the master chief I thought the others got killed.
