Tourney Hand Question And Introduction

    Hi

Been reading here a while but have never posted but enjoy learning from the experience of other players here . Have been playing bout a year now - Started off with some home games with friends to get started and then played a few live games which I've done okay at . No major wins as of yet . Started playing online a few months ago - first 2 and 3 $ stts and then some of the cheaper tourneys online .Won a few lost a few . I then moved to micro limit cash which I found frustrating as I did with the cheaper stts . Players not really giving a damn bout what they play with , and calling bets they shouldn't be . Enough Said . I can't say I've got the whole pot odds thing off but I do have a fair idea of when to bet or call and so on - Thanks to the informative posts that are on here .

So after deciding I wasn't getting what I was looking for at the smaller games I played a 10 $ stt which I won . Played a few more and placed in most of them ,which gave me more confidence in what I was doing . Only a small number of games and I know that is not much to go on ,but I feel at this level I can get a better feeling of whats going on around me ,coz people tend to play better poker . Had a go then at a 25$ buy-in tourney which I won . Delighted with the prize as it was my first major win . $1400 + :D

So the hand in question . Final 10 players of a Mtt - $1000+ for the winner - avg stack 35k - 5 at the table . Villan has bout 27k - me bout 22k .Blinds 1200/2400 Almost everytime I'm on the big blind he raises to 8k . There are two players between me and him .He is being very aggresive - me and other players at the table have caught him trying to steal pots . First time 3 handed - ace rag rag on the Flop - player 1 checks - i check and he placed a bet which I raised and he folded - I had nothing . Second time I had J6 on the BB he raised up to 6k which I called - Flop - K J 5 Rainbow - I bet and he goes all in which I called - he had 10 7 hearts . He knows I can be very tight and that sometimes i can let pots go with a reraise from another player - something I know myself and which I'm improving on with time . I have A 10 o he raises to 8k . Folded to me . What now ???? - All comments appriciated .

Welcome to the forum; things can get hot-headed here occasionally, but if you've been reading a lot then you'll know that already!

In that hand, I think your best option is just to push it, like valor says. The only reason to be wary here is if opponent has copped on that you know he's stealing a lot, and will now only move on you with a big hand, hoping for a reaction from you. But he comes across as a "all brawn, no brains" type player, so I doubt that very much.

    Wlelcome to forum!

This is easy push for me, his range is so large then you will definately win more then you lose.

Welcome to the forum. Push here, I know you lose the hand but it's still a good move.

I agree with the three posters above. Even if you lose this hand its a winning play overall and that how you make the profit in poker.

i had a similar situation 3 or 4 days ago in the 266 runner €27 rebuy on paddy powers, 5 of us left, big diff in money between 5th 4th 3rd, 2 massive chip leaders, the other 3 of us similar, blinds large relative to our 3 stacks, folded to SB, aggressive guy same stack as me pushes, i have AT, i call, he has QJ..............i lost but would call again in the same spot.

Thanks to you all for your replies . Norwich Fan Rob - He wasn't some sort of animal was he ? ( I'm not wanting to give his name away ) . It was one of these torneys I met him at also .

And yes I did lose the hand . I pushed - He had KQo . Flop 10 rag rag , Turn and River both K . I felt that it was a good play but had doubts also . Guess it makes up for the one memorable hand from the tourney in which I won . I had A9s - 5 handed - I raised the BB - he called to see the flop - all low cards he checked - i pushed which he called . He had 33 - the board paired twice with 4s and 5s and I won the hand with the Ace high .
