Windows Media Player - no Picture

    Whenever im playing videos im WMP it plays the sound but not the video, any ideas why this is happening? i have the latest version.

    Most likely a codec problem? Does it happen with all videos, or only certain ones?

    If its only happening with some video files, its a codec problem. Windows Media Player does attempt to download codecs automatically but its pissing against the wind relying on that, many codecs have to be downloaded seperately such Divx and some Mpeg 2 codecs.

    I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that the missing codec is XviD :)

    Install it and you should get the video.

    Download and install K Lite Codec Pack and you will have every codec you'll ever need. Dead easy to install.

    Im using WMP 10 and it seems to be happening with .mpg format videos.

    DOWNLOAD VLC
    WMP never finds codecs but this baby has most of them already! He handy player! My default for sure. Not so good for DVDs though!

    not good for dvd's???

    it's brilliant, it has the dvd playback codec already installed, wmp doesn't have that.

    Fare enough, throught somoeone said it was bad for DVDs once, dont watch them on my PC sorry! Tis a great player though!

    It's had one or two glitches for me in dvd menus but never anything big, and thats mroe then made up for by the fact that it skips all the copyright bullcrap at the start of the DVD, and often launches straight into the main feature.
