Can you guys explain why you fancy those selections? I'm not saying there is anything wrong with them, I just don't want this place turning out like OLBG. Best of luck with them :)

This years Chester Cup is a wide open event with 7 or 8 horses that I could possibly see winning. The value selection for me is Vinando at 10/1, which is a decent each way price with the first 4 places paid.

Vinando has a brilliant draw in stall 2 which should mean he can keep clear of the early hustle and bustle for places, you generally really need to be drawn low in this race, although Anak Pekan won from stall 15 last year. Vinando is relatively lightly raced for a 5 year old. He was a good 4th over today's distance in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket and seems to go on any ground. Frankie Dettori taking the ride is another big plus, the other 2 races Dettori rode him in he was 4th of 34 in the Cesarewitch and 1st of 17 at Newmarket. He definitely looks solid each way bet.

Of the rest Greenwich Meantime looks on the upgrade and should run well if he can overcome a poor draw which the Nawab will also go close.

Mezereon in the 2.10 Fakenham. Alot of dead wood in this very ordinary race. The selection was off the track for nearly two years before finishing 7th in an aw race. Showed the benifits of the race when making all in a claimer at Bangor over hurdles. Was decent hurdler a few years back and showed she still has the abilty and maybe too good for these modest rivals. Beau Torero will give her most to do.

Barton Flower in the 6.20 Kelso. Made all lto in beginners chase jumping very well throughout. Shes racing off a lightweight with a good 5ld claimer (D Jacob) on board. Will find the ground to her liking and will probaby try to make all. The way in which she won lto was very impressive. Yes Sir is obvious danger but ill take him on because hasn't been running well of late, the selection appears to be in much better form.

Ellersie Tom in the 6.50 Kelso. Making his debut in handicap today and is racing off bottom weight 10st on ground he goes on. Could well run these ragged from the front. Bollin Thomas won lto but goes up 7lbs for that and may find him out. Pay Attention is another danger but is high in the weights and has finished 2nd in six of last seven outings.

    *not a actual tip

eyecatching entry today for Maricahi Band >booked to ride K Fallon, E/w cause its 30/1+, capable hrse and eyecatching Jock. Why would they book one Mr K Fallon on what is an outsider?

Anyone got ideas on this, K Fallon nothing better to do for this race? :D
    might place?

the tip i got for today is for VINANDO in the 2:50 at chester. He is currently 10/1 but it is supposed to have a real chance of winning.

Frankie's riding - he has already won the first two.

I'm going to go with The Nawab

Took him at just under 2/1 to be placed on betfair.

Vinando comes 2nd, had him each way at 10/1 so happy enough with that.

Went off at a crazy speed and burnt out in final 2 furlongs, would have won under more constrained ride imo.

Bad luck, good selections by the way. The worst thing you can ever do in racing is pick out a couple of horses then decide to not back them because they ALWYAS win.

Tough race, I find these early season 3 year old handicaps by far the most difficult race to solve.

At first glance Ellesappelle looks the most solid option in the race, proven over the distance and on the ground so looks the most obvious pick. However on digging slightly deeper it's not all that obvious at all. Ellesappelle has common formlines with Rebellious Spirit. Both horses have raced against both Elite Land and Waiting for March over similar distances on similar grounds (circa 1 mile). Rebellious Spirit finished 8 lengths ahead of Elite Land while Ellesappelle finsished 2 lengths behind it and received 5 lbs. Likewise Rebellious Spirit finsished 16 lengths ahead of Waiting for March while Ellesappelle only beat it by 1 length. This suggests that Rebellious Spirit may have it's measure, however tonights race is over 2 furlongs further which could make all the difference.

There are other interesting formlines with Rebellious Spirit and favourite Capistrano through horses named Croft and Lucky Lover which find very similar form possibly just favouring Capistrano.

In conclusion there is form that suggests that Capistrano should win with Rebellious Spirit being placed but as I have already said the big unknown is the trip and the difference it will make to each horse so all in all a tricky contest and maybe one to avoid.

Note: These are just my thoughts, don't let me put you off your own bet.

Well done, watching with interest. Well done persian too and others.

I see Tririk is out tomorrow at Clonmel - Scargill gave us some info on this already so watch it lads - don't look a gift horse in the mouth and all that :)

The form holds true, Capistrano wins and Rebellious Spirit is placed.

I actually didn't have a bet in the race. As I said I hate these early season 3 year old handicaps, a lot of the horses are having their first runs in handicaps after 3 maidens. It's very difficult to tell if their first handicap mark is correct or not. There is also those that aren't pushed very hard in their maidens who suddenly improve in their first handicap.

    6.35 Ripon Always Fruitful 5-1
nice call persian, why did u pick this one out?

Kevin Darley apparently a good jock, But this race was lost by Dimboola < who seems to be a nutter of a horse, before teh start attacked the horse in next stall, dumping R hills and the other horses jock. Dimboola got a quick pace on early and was only horse to run on extreme right rail, rest fo teh field stayed on left, goin nicely and leading but horse(R Hills?) decided to switch back across to left in last 2 furlongs. The switch cost him the race as it took a vital few lenghts to get him running straight again by which time the field were all over him.

To add insult to injury i had also covered Rouen (useful sort) and Fruitful finishes strongly between the two! Rats! :(

but keen to know why picked? ?:|
    see the race?
