Unraised pots

Ok the following hand is an example of a hand I just played, I am trying to change this part of my game as I think its one of my biggest leaks, how would you play it?

four limpers to my BB and I check with 3h 6s

    flop comes 3c 7c 6d (pot 110)

I bet out 70 (do most check raise here or check call maybe?)

    One caller mid position

    turn 8s (pot 250)

    I bet out 200

    villain raises to 700

I folded but its in the realms of possibility I could push here, we both started the hand with around 2k btw, I basically dont fancy playing a massive pot with two pair and this board.

Should I check call once he has called on the flop? except the board is draw heavy and I dont really want to give a free card however I also dont like putting out a 200 bet then folding to a raise it gives people the impression I can be pushed around too easily (which is sometimes true I think)

I lose considerably on similar hands.

Don't think I can help you cause I play at .50/1 but at this level I always bet out unless I have a good reason to think somone else will raise which is rare in an uraised pot. If anyone has TP, overpair or even nice looking overcards they tend to call me down.

Can't see decent players paying you off - so I generally raise alot of rag flops when I'm in the blinds if there are only TAs in the pot.

In your example I think a push with J high would be equal to pushing with 3 6.

You played it fine, as long as you would also lead out with a straight here. On the turn you beat no leigit raising hand, so it comes down to a read on the vilain, how likely is he to be semi bluffing? Would he raise with a set on the flop? Against some people I would push here automatically, but normally its a fold. If the game is hyper aggressive then you cant really fold.

I dont see the value of a check raise here, you are slightly less likely to fold the best hand but thats about it. Once your called on the flop against a non tricky opponent leading is probably better, check calling means youll get to a showdown but you give a free card and you cant fold to a bet on the river no matter what falls or the size of the bet.

I think you played it well, and I think "you shouldn't go broke in an unraised pot" and similar is a fallacy.
