Energy in Bio Fuel

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has done the sums on how much energy goes into making ethanol for bio fuel. there has to be a certain amount energy for fertiliser machinery etc that is required so if oil goes up what are we going to use to make the magical bio fuel with
