What prgress/discipline or hopes that boardsters hope to accompish this summer?.

I`m horseless at the moment, I`m looking for a share in the Dublin area. Right now to buy a horse/pony would be too expensive and impractical. I also hope to do my stage one in riding and stable management. Just got to get my skates on and join the BHS (no Irish version as far as I`m aware of).

So lets get the ball rolling!.

Not as much as I should. I've three, a 17 year old mare who loves her hunting, a 5 year old gelding with loads of potential who's out at grass (not for much longer) and a 3 year old filly who will be started this year.

I'm skint though and can't even afford a saddle so dont do much at the moment besides hacking. I hope to event one day when I've money to do these things.

i've been thinking more and more about starting up again- I used to jump ponies. But only access would be lessons and well to be honest i'd get pissed off at only being able to ride once a week. So i guess i'm hoping to win the lottery by the end of the summer.

Lessons aren`t too bad, most places do ride outs. I prefer private lessons as I dislike it when they cram in as many people as they can.

yeh the overcrowding on slow horses kinda takes away from the enjoyment for me. Or else if the horse has some ability it has the worst habits. Thats what i've experienced anyway. I think i'll stick to being a spectator for now. Thinking of heading down to millstreet. Incidentally whats happening with the samson super league (nations cup) Has jessica chesney made herself available for selection. ?

Dont! It sounds like you did loads when you were younger. You should definitely try and get back into it. Theres loads of perfectly good horses not being ridden in this country, all you need to do is a few refresher lessons and if you're lucky you might make some contacts and find a horse to ride. I'd love to find someone competent to loan out one of mine. Trouble is, I live in a fairly rural area.

Yeah i grew up around ponies. Had my own and was into showjumping in a big way. I will go back but finances dont really allow it at the moment.

You could try to find a share, cheaper than loaning.

I have a horse and have been riding for about 6 month's, my girlfriend has been riding for about 2 years. I have a friend who has a horse for half share, really nice Chestnut mare with a super jump, a real people horse, loves being groomed.. This is my horse

what is exactly involved in a share? does that mean u'd pay for half of the horses upkeep?

It depends, there is no standard way about it. It depends on the agreement between the two individuals. For examle the sharer could cove shoeing and worming.

Exactly, all details can be negiotated before starting share. Girl who owns her is training in the Garda and she has one girl already for half the share so looking for someone for other half. She's a really nice horse, lovely action and a great jump. I look after her during the week as she gets on really well with my horse so I can put the 2 of them out together...:)
