4 millions PS3 produced by the end of the year, doubt that will be enough to satisfy demand

The new controller is a wireless Dualshock with out the vibration and triggers and a motion sensor added."So if you wanted to be a cynic, you could say that this is a wireless PS2 controller with analog triggers like the Xbox, a central guide button like the Xbox 360, and internal motion sensors like the Wii" :D

They plan on releasing RSS video, voice over IP, camera and GPS peripherals for the PSP.

    Big Games shown

Metal Gear Solid 4: Best thing of the show, slick trailer showing the NEW Foxhound. Trailer is up here http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=10421&type=wmv&pl=game
Final Fantasy XIII: Pink haired Yuna style character, kicking ass in what appears to be real time...instead of turn based.

Eye Toy 2: Interactive cam, senses cards placed infront of it, then it renders in characters, looked really clever.
    dsc21671yp.jpg

Gran Turismo HD using old assets (probably GT4) running 1920x1080p resolution.

PS1 games will be available to buy and download from this.

Just found this So the 20gb version will be lacking HDMI, wireless and the card reader, and looks like they dropped the dual HDMI for 60gb and some of the USB ports.

I'll add more as I find it.

Erm, has the number of Blutooth controllers been revised? It was up to seven but the image of the controller above has only 4 led's to indicate which player you... does this mean the number is now 4 or that the image is not a final model?

    Any thoughs?

Yep seems to be. The number of usb/network ports has also been reduced. They seem to be going for a lot less of a digital hub idea now.

I think it's still 4+ controllers. 4 wireless (and thus needing the led) and the rest wired. I may be wrong.

Also , I believe it allows seven bluetooth devices (with 4 being 'trollers obviously) so that would include headset, eyetoy etc....

[edit]Some discussion on it here actually http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054928749

thats a ****ing disgrace. it makes absolutly no sense why it shouldn't cost the same here. oh well, it just means i'll be buying mine from the states.

And if it's properly region-free, all you need is a step-down converter ;)
Now... how does one get enough money for one, exactly?
€599 is roughly 2-3 weeks good pay. If I don't eat.

I missed it, but by any chance was there any mention of the plan to put Linux on the HD?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,225 ✭✭✭Ciaran500

Didn't see all of it but from all the reports I didn't see a single thing about it.

So no HDMI on the cheaper (!) unit...doesn't that equate to no bluray disc playback due to there being no HDCP? Or am I missing something?

You are missing something. HDMI outputs do not negate the blu-ray output.

You can still play Blu-Ray discs at full resolution*

*So long as the studios dont put restrictive copy protection on the discs (So far there are none on the new HD-DVD discs, and frankly I cant see them putting it on, seeing as how the Core PS3 wont have HDMI outputs, and a lot of HDTV's dont come with HDMI inputs anyway
