    Hey I'm back

Quick one I'm doing a project at the moment-- Hardware Deployment roll out its a nationwide thing, travelling from county to county installing new hardware for a leading bank (can't say who here but they're aint that many so work it out!) Anyway this is the real thing, we need graduates on our team -- you don't need experience but you do need to know the basics of networking, switches, routers, tcp/ip that kind of thing. If you've just finished a good FAS course thats also fine (NO ECDL's though).
Here's the thing you need a car -- its a chance to get that IT project experience on your cv.
Now before anyone starts moaning -- THIS IS REAL -- please contact me asap if you're into it, but seriously no messers, I am really stuck for staff on this project so you must be serious about this. Its a contract role -- approx 6months good pay rate as well. :) G

Could you put in a salary range please?

its a contracting position so its a daily rate -- €140/day you basically need to be setup as a LTD contractor, thats easier than it sounds, you can do it yourself with an accountant (although I'd use a friend/family if I were you lots of cowboys out there) or you can use a management company they sort everything out for you, I used to use one called cxc they are great cheap and efficient. Location wise this role is nationwide so you'd be all over the place, although the schedule will probably be something like 1 week in Cork, 1 week in Clare that kind of thing, plus overnight stay will be paid for by an allowance so you can either use the allowance for a B&B or stay with Uncle Johnny and spend the cash!

Whats the start time on this project? Or how long before people start?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6 siucra

sorry for delay! -- the project is broken into phases.
Phase 1 has already started and it finishes end of this month.
Phase 2 starts: June week 1 - runs till November
Phase 3 starts: July week 2 -- runs till December.
Now these dates could slip -- it could run later and it could start earlier or later. Either way we are meeting students/graduates from this week onwards to be considered for all phases of the project.
    Interested??

Is this the bank that is changing ownership/name at the moment?
Also, back from where? It's your first post.

no its not the bank thats changing its name -- I really can't print who it is sorry -- but anyone who is interested drop me a mail and I can go through it offline.
Yeah I was just re-reading the "I'm back bit" makes no sense I know!! I used to be in under a different name ages ago -- I think it was Siucra99. I worked as a software test engineer and I spent hours on Boards.ie while I was waiting for things to install -- it kept me sane!!

what sort of kit is being installed?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6 siucra

    its a complete hardware upgrade/change.
Taking out old equipment -servers, workstations etc. and installing new range.
I think its change from old nixdorf siemens pc's to Dell and some HP servers as well.
I don't know details but can go through them offline.
The good thing about this role is its really hands on, you'll spend most of the time in the server/comms rooms working with other engineers on replacing all equipment and installing new stuff.
I might have more info tomorrow. but thats about all the info I can divulge right now.....!

Damn. Love to do something like this, but I've no car (and only a provisional) :( Have an A+, and studying for a Network+. Based west/next to Dublin. Ah well, maybe next time.
