Just wondering if anyone out there uses this :

    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom/

Its the new adobe professional photography application, (well new to me anyway) its a workflow application & still a beta. Pity theres no windows version available yet. If anyone is using it - how do you rate it / find it useful ?

Yeah I used it when it was realeased first for free... didnt get much of a chance to check it out cos could only run on my G5 at home, my ibook just wasnt up to the job. I was impressed with it when I used it, but really it doesn't do anything new... nice alternative to PS for RAW, but I dont see myself using it much. Nice to know its there and that was legally free but...

Hear the rumour that Apple are pulling Aperture cos it has too many bugs????

Tut tut, not like Apple to mess up like that, must be the intel influence, making them all go crazy.

From the video on adobe's site it seemed to have some good features - like batch re-naming (drag and drop fields when importing files - ie drag the date across and it gets added to each new filename) also the choice to add a copyright tag to every imported photo.

Another one that looked good was being able to tweak a number of files at the same time - ie slightly darken/lighten a bunch selected files.

Also according to the blurb its based on a relational database - and not a regular file browser - so it keeps all original files intact and adds a profile to each one as you modify it- so that when you open it in ps for editing it applies the profile to the opened file - allowing to then edit and save (while keeping the original imported file intact.

I would be a bit sceptical about the performance of it - in the video the guy was flicking through 16mb picture files like they were notepads.

yeah, it looks pretty good. I'd imagine it will eat RAM though, 2gb would be a good place to start i'd imagine.

i've had it for awhile now - It takes a bit of getting used to, but does some very nice things. TBH I prefer my photoshop routines but I'm a creature of habit.

I run the first beta release on a G4 1.4 ghz 1gig Ram with no real problem.

Apples own Aperture wont even install on my G4
