Problem with Sky+ box

I bought a Sky+ box from ebay in March. It worked fine until this last week. At first whatever channel you were watching froze if you were recording another channel at the same time.
Yesterday the Sky+ functions stopped working completely. It said that there was nothing in the planner & if you tried to record something, it gave an error saying that Sky+ functions were not available & to contact Sky.
I rang Sky & they said that my account was still set up for Sky+. They talked me through resetting the box in the installer menu & then re-formatting the hard drive, but it made no difference.
I suspect that this means that the hard drive is faulty & am considering buying one of the hard drive upgrades on ebay. Has anyone had similar problems or experience of buying one of these upgrade drives?

it might be worth your while looking on www.avforums.com

there is a much larger sky+ audience there so I am sure you'll find your answer!!

I havent done it but apparently the 5400rpm harddrives are better for upgrading your sky box cos they dont get as hot as the 7200rpm ones!!
