obviously, the shannon flowing down the middle

    treaty stone in the middle

st john's castle on the left

    the countryside on the right

best I can come up with not living near the place

Does anyone happen to know the meaning behind the various symbols in the new Limerick Logo?
I can find details on when and why it was made but none explaining the elements contained.

It isnt exactly new, its been around since 1997, they used crests in the 90s prior to this, the city coat of arms in the early 90s, but changed to the county council crest around 93/94. The current crest is a bit of a mish mash really, its too cluttered , it was designed because the county board wanted to copyright their own crest, i think Limerick was actually the 1st county to do it actually!, not a great fan of it though, would much prefer a simpler design, like the city coat of arms or the old crest with the ardagh chalice!

Thanks Spengman. I agree, simpler would have better and stronger.

I reckon the middle bottom bit represents the shannon.
