depends on what you mean by 'kids camera' tbh honest ots silly gfiving a child advanced electronic equipment, unless theres some sort of tyco 'my first digital camera' type products your asking for trouble. i guess if you gotta get one, I'd look for a cheap shockresistant, maybe spash proof point and click. or just get the cheapest you can find, more than likely it will break realisticlly, kids will be kids.

i just did a quick google and

Yeah, something cheap and cheerful... this is not a topic for people to get on their high horse and spout their opinions that a child of that age should not have a digital camera. I am looking for something like melekalikimaka suggests - a kids camera that is robust and splash proof etc

Why do you say that? A lot of kids that age have gameboys, playstations, ps2, xbox or similar and you probably wouldn't bat an eyelid - most of which I am guessing cost a lot more than a basic digital camera.

Get them a cheap camera phone,... ie Nokia 3200 or the like... people age 7 nowadays have phones dont they? Or something a little dearer..You can pick up 3200's in the FS forum for like 30-40 quid so take a look if your interested in it
