    Hey all,

Im finally going travelling in a month or so and I wanted to get a few opinions.

Im going to USA,OZ,NZ,Hong Kong,Thailand but the thing that I cant figure out is if inbetween Usa and OZ I should go to FIji or Hawaii. Cant afford to go to both.

Has anyone been to either or know of anyone who has. Any info would be brill.

    Thanks.

I spent 4 days in Hawaii earlier this year as part of our RTW trip. I'm almost crying remembering the time we had. I cannot comment on Fiji (as I've never been) but Hawaii was amazing. Unfortunately we only had enough time to visit the main island (Oahu) but it was spectacular. If you had more time you should try and visit the other islands and the Volcano Fields. We hired a car and drove around the Island which is relatively small. We stopped at many beaches along the way but our favourite would have been sunset beach which was magnificent. Beware of visiting in winter (as we did) as the rip currents at many of the beaches are treacherous, however you will see some great surfing beaches. We also visited the famous hanauma bay where you can snorkel from the beach with all the fish. It was disgusting to see all the tourists walking on the coral with no regard for the animal life. However no restrictions were in place so I suppose you can't fully blame the tourists (rant over sorry). We stayed in the Renaissance Iliki (http://www.ilikaihotel.com/) which I would highly recommend. If you are in the area make sure to make reseverations at Sorrento's at the top of the hotel tower where you can dine on the finest Italian food overlooking the skyline of Oahu. Best meal I've ever had and the service was superb. We did this on our last night followed by cocktails beside the pool while enjoying the music and traditional hula dance.

I'd sum Hawaii up as being one of the most amazing places I have ever been and we have travelled a fair bit.

If you need any other info just post back.

I would agree with the above , I also went to one of the smaller isle's Kauai, and it was amazing very quiet relaxed well, oahu is cool but busy, Kauai is just so beautiful and peaceful , its like the rural version of oahu

I feel the same way *sniff*.

All I can do is echo the sentiment expressed by daveg. By far, the most incredible place I have ever visited and somewhere I most certainly will be visiting again.

I did much the same as daveg, but don't forget Pearl Harbour. If you are into that sort of thing, it is worth visiting.

    *wipes away a tear*

LoL Tom. I remember your post way back when I posted looking for feedback on the place. Didn't you drive into a military area as well by accident? Guess what... so did we !!!

Pearl Harbour is pretty impressive alright but it poured all day the day we were there. Still impressive though.

Ah man, that has brought my two weeks that I spent in Maui and Oahu back, I wanna go back there!!

But yeah, Hawaii is a stunning place, I can't really add to what Daveg said about Oahu but Maui is just as stunning and even more so if I might add, I suppose thats because I spent more time on Maui. What ever island you go to I'm sure you will find it as unbelievable as the others, just go there!! :D

I have never been to Hawaii but I would not recommend Fiji - it has become very commercialised and we got the impression they were a bit sick of toursits even though tourists are their main industry. Also the food is pants.

    Hawaii 50 I say!

Which would be dearer? I heard hawaii is mad dear (the hotels and hostels in fiji certainly seem cheaper).

I would have thought Figi would have been dearer. We booked through Trailfinders. Our hotel worked out at €124 per night for 3 of us including breakfast.
