Hi, we're heading to Biarritz for a couple of days later this month - Cheap Ryanair flights :-)

Anyway, does anyone have any idea's on what is there to do there?

We like to walk, but not into serious hiking.

Are there any nice towns worth visiting in the Pyrenees, reachable by bus on a short day trip? Is there anywhere worth visiting by train?

What are the bars and restaurants like in Biarritz? Any suggestions for live music?

How much would we expect to pay for food & drink (Beer & wine)? I heard it can be expensive.

We're staying in the Tulip Inn, by the way.

Nice place. To the south ye've got San Sebastien -if ye like walking this is a great way to spend a day. Bayonne is not too far from Biarritz either, its not as touristy as biarritz but still a great town. Best thing about Biarritz is the beach, its no wonder surfers love the place, as the waves are some of the best around. Was there in August last year, jammed to the rafters with tourists, some festival was on. Hoping to go back this year again.

Food is a lot cheaper than Paris. The last time I ate there is was normal to find a 3-course fixed menu for about €20 with wine.

    hi

Biarritz is a great town, very busy in august, lots of surfers and cool bars etc. Rent a body board from one of the surf shops and head to grand plage; might not be the best surfing beach but it is the place to hang out.. check out the playboy club on clemenceau; not what it sounds like.. just a good late bar.

You can head up into the foothills of the Pyrenees very easily and the old Basque villages are worth visiting.
