Time Magazine has an exclusive article on Wii, including hands-on with Zelda, WarioWare and a Tennis game!

Here's a link to the cover:

    http://img.timeinc.net/time/magazine/archive/covers/2006/1101060515_400.jpg

And some excerpts from the article:
Nintendo gave TIME the first look at its new controller--but before I pick it up, Miyamoto suggests that I remove my jacket. That turns out to be a good idea. The first game I try--Miyamoto walks me through it, which to a gamer is the rough equivalent of getting to trade bons mots with Jerry Seinfeld--is a Warioware title (Wario being Mario's shorter, fatter evil twin). It consists of dozens of manic five-second mini games in a row. They're geared to the Japanese gaming sensibility, which has a zany, cartoonish, game-show bent. In one hot minute, I use the controller to swat a fly, do squat-thrusts as a weight lifter, turn a key in a lock, catch a fish, drive a car, sauté some vegetables, balance a broom on my outstretched hand, color in a circle and fence with a foil. And yes, dance the hula. Since very few people outside Nintendo have seen the new hardware, the room is watching me closely.
After Warioware, we play scenes from the upcoming Legend of Zelda title, Twilight Princess, a moody, dark (by Nintendo's Disneyesque standards) fantasy adventure. Now I'm Errol Flynn, sword fighting with the controller, then aiming a bow and arrow, then using it as a fishing rod, reeling in a stubborn virtual fish. The third game, and probably the most fun, is also the simplest: tennis. The controller becomes a racket, and I'm smacking forehands and stroking backhands. The sensors are fine enough that you can scoop under the ball to lob it, or slice it for spin. At the end, I don't so much put the controller down as have it pried from my hands.

Awesome news :D I know it's been rumoured, but this confirmation makes me a happy man indeed. Can't wait to see and hear about it from E3!

Was on the cards but it's good to get confirmation; sword fighting etc. has alwasy been one of the most groin-grabingly salivating aspects of the Wii to date... Zelda was made for it

Makes to long wait for Wii and zelda even more unbearable. I've a feeling that they will both be released at the same time.

Am I the only one who doesn't like what they're doing to games, what if you're playing on a crappy 14" tv from acroos the room...ok thats beside the point.

I just am not excited about tilting a tv remote and swatting flys or sword figthing. It'll be fun for bout 5 mins then I will get bored. I hope they prove me wrong but nothing the controller can do has made me go whoa

    it looks like a gimmick

I really want it to be good but it just reminds me of the eye toy and light gun games. Good idea but not really mainstream

I hope nintendo prove me wrong and its amazing

The eye toy is relatively mainstream I know a few non gamers who have used them, look a Buzz and SingStar as well they are gigantic and they're "just" gimmicks

yeah but you're talking about 2 games not enough to support the console on their own. I may change my mind if the playstation only had a mic and button controller. As for the eye toy come on mainstream, the games are so one dimensional. same thing over and over no depth. I have never bought one nor do I personally know anyone with one

as i said i hope i am wrong

According to what's known, the difference between say, a typical light gun game and a Wii shooter is total immersion. No longer will you be stuck on rails. This will take all the ideas that past "gimmicks" have introduced to a whole new level.

I have to say the Tennis game sounds very interesting. Sequel to Super Tennis, perhaps?

I'm a skeptic about the Revolution controller. The Zelda bit shows a nice bit of dedication to really integrating the crazy stuff into the game.
But...I'm still just not crazy about the whole thing. The idea of all that swinging the wii-mote around my sitting room just does nothing for me.

Yeah i'm the same, like the fishing in Zelda might be cool and all but i'd get the same buzz from just using a standard controller.

Maybe i play games for the wrong reasons, I like games for how they play not how I play them.

Also I wonder will developers try and integrate all the functions of the wii controller or will they jus say screw it, we're too lazy, they can use a gamecube controller (which i love by the way)

ah feck it, it'll be what it will be. I will prob buy a rev anyway but i hope they ship it with a cube controller and the remote/stick thing

ok. now that the Wii has been released, can anyone tell me if the zelda game can be played with a normal controller?
i really don't want to have to stand up and jump around the room while playing.

Could always just try and get the Gamecube version? That's what I'm trying to do..although, its proving to be illusive.. and expensive!

i seen the gamecube version in Game in limerick a month ago, was 2 copies left
im sure your chances are much better now

though I wouldnt count on continued shipments of this game, it is a gamecube game after all, literally a dead console

even with the wii version you don't have to stand up and look quite a fool.

you can quite comfortably sit in your chair and flick/wave your wrists/hands to control actions on the screen.

now wii sports, that's a different ball game. :P

there is no need to stand up for the wii game

flicks of the wrist are all that are needed to use the controls

It still looks like your having some sort of horrible seizure while playing though.

While it's true, it's not nearly as much fun. ^_^

The controls on the Zelda game don't require much movement, the controller is a lot more comfortable than your standard one where both hands are in a fixed position. My chest is thanking me for the difference, I get RSI problems at times and have none since I got the Wii.
It really is essential to stand up when playing the tennis game, at least I've found that to get a proper down the line shot from the backhand I have to turn my body to meet the ball with the face of the racket positioned correctly or else I can't direct the ball correctly.

I totally agree guys. None of the Wii sports games can be played properly while sitting down. Zelda on the other hand is totally playable on the couch, he he. Wicked game!

Yeah, you can play Zelda perfectly from a sitting position, with little flicks of the wrist!

Jumping around the room while playing? That's what WarioWare is for! ;)

    my god i'm an asshole

I was so so wrong about this. Nintendo have implemented a lovely way to play games. wether or not it will ever be used in new and exciting ways is up to developers.

but i was so wrong about they way this was implemented.

Dude, that hardly makes ya an asshole, ya simply picked up wrong on how it would work! :)
